Perfect Derma Peel - Frequently Asked Questions
Perfect Derma Peel Kits
Each Perfect Derma Peel kit includes the professional peel solution, step-by-step instructions, and post-peel aftercare essentials to support healing and optimize results.
Because we offer different kit options — including multi-peel packages and booster add-ons — the exact contents may vary. A detailed breakdown of what is included with each option is listed directly on the product page for that specific kit.
The Perfect Plus Booster and the Perfect Plus Plus Booster are enhancement options that increase the strength and corrective power of the Perfect Derma Peel.
The Perfect Plus Booster provides a noticeable increase in intensity and is ideal for targeting pigmentation, acne scarring, and early to moderate signs of aging.
The Perfect Plus Plus Booster offers the highest level of enhancement and is designed for those addressing deeper discoloration, more advanced sun damage, or significant texture concerns.
While the Plus Plus Booster delivers a stronger corrective effect, the difference in downtime is typically minimal — most clients may experience only an additional day or two of peeling compared to the standard booster.
Choosing the right option depends on your skin goals and experience level. If you’re unsure, we’re happy to guide you toward the best fit.
The Perfect Derma Peel is safe and effective for most skin types; however, it may not be appropriate for everyone.
This treatment is not recommended for individuals who are pregnant or nursing, have an active skin infection or open wounds in the treatment area, are currently using isotretinoin (Accutane), or have used it within the past six months.
Those with certain autoimmune conditions, uncontrolled rosacea, or a history of keloid scarring should consult with a medical professional prior to treatment.
If you are using retinol, prescription retinoids (such as tretinoin), or other exfoliating acids, these should typically be discontinued at least 5–7 days prior to applying the peel to minimize irritation and ensure even penetration.
If you are unsure whether this peel is right for you, we encourage you to reach out before purchasing so we can help determine the safest and most effective option for your skin
Yes. The Perfect Derma Peel is formulated to be safe and effective for all Fitzpatrick skin types (Types I–VI), including deeper skin tones.
The Fitzpatrick scale is a dermatological classification system that categorizes skin based on how it responds to sun exposure — ranging from very fair (Type I) to deeply pigmented skin (Type VI).
Unlike many traditional chemical peels that carry a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones, this peel is specifically designed to minimize that risk when used as directed.
As with any professional treatment, proper preparation, adherence to instructions, and diligent sun protection are essential to achieving optimal results.
If you have a history of hyperpigmentation or are unsure about your skin type, we are happy to guide you prior to treatment
Peeling typically begins around day 2 or 3 after application and can last several days. The amount of peeling varies from person to person and may range from light flaking to more noticeable shedding.
It is common for peeling to begin around the mouth and chin area before progressing outward. Some clients experience visible sheets of peeling, while others may have a milder, dry or tight appearance with minimal flaking.
Both experiences are normal and do not necessarily reflect the effectiveness of the treatment.
It is important not to pick, pull, or prematurely remove peeling skin, as this can lead to irritation or uneven healing. Allow the skin to shed naturally while keeping it moisturized and protected with SPF.
Makeup should generally be avoided for the first 24 hours after applying the peel. After that, light mineral-based makeup may be worn if necessary.
However, many clients prefer to avoid makeup until active peeling has subsided (typically around day 5–7) to allow the skin to shed evenly and heal optimally.
If you choose to wear makeup during the peeling phase, apply it gently and avoid heavy rubbing or aggressive removal. Always prioritize hydration and daily SPF during the recovery period.
It is best to avoid intense workouts, excessive sweating, hot yoga, saunas, or prolonged heat exposure for at least 48 hours after applying the peel.
Heat and sweat can increase irritation and potentially affect the peeling process during the early stages of treatment.
Light movement such as walking is generally fine, but strenuous exercise should be postponed until the skin has begun the normal peeling cycle.
Once active peeling is underway and the skin feels comfortable, most clients can gradually return to their regular routine.
For most clients, the Perfect Derma Peel can be performed every 4 weeks as part of a corrective treatment plan. This allows the skin to fully complete its renewal cycle before undergoing another peel.
For maintenance, many individuals choose to perform the peel every 2–3 months to preserve results and maintain clarity, tone, and smoothness.
The ideal frequency depends on your skin goals, sensitivity level, and whether you are using booster enhancements. If you are unsure how often to treat, we’re happy to help you create a personalized plan.
Many clients begin noticing improvement in skin clarity and brightness within the first week, once active peeling has completed and fresh skin is revealed.
Over the following 2–4 weeks, continued improvement in tone, texture, and overall radiance becomes more visible as collagen stimulation and cellular renewal progress beneath the surface.
For concerns such as pigmentation, acne scarring, or more advanced sun damage, a series of treatments may provide the most dramatic transformation.
Results vary depending on individual skin type and goals, but most clients describe their skin as smoother, clearer, and noticeably more luminous after just one treatment.
The Perfect Derma® Peel system is effective for acne-prone skin, and many clients see meaningful improvement in breakouts, inflammation, and overall texture when used correctly and in a series.
For acne specifically, two options work particularly well:
• Perfect Derma Peel Plus – targets congestion, cell turnover, pigmentation from past breakouts, and surface texture. It’s a versatile choice for many acne-prone skin types.
• Perfect Derma Peel with the Clear Booster – This version includes an additional booster formulated to address active acne and oily skin more directly. The Clear Booster helps reduce acne-causing bacteria, calm inflammation, and support clearer skin over multiple treatments.
Which is “best”?
If you’re primarily dealing with active acne or oily congestion, adding the Clear Booster is often recommended.
If your focus is overall texture, scarring from past acne, or pigmentation, the Plus can be very helpful on its own.
Most people achieve the best results with a series of 3–6 peels, scheduled about 4 weeks apart, paired with a consistent home care plan.
As always, individual skin needs vary — if you’d like help choosing which peel is right for you, feel free to ask!
Both the VI Peel and the Perfect Derma Peel are medical-grade chemical peels, but they differ in formulation and customization options.
The VI Peel offers several versions (such as formulas for acne, pigmentation, or aging), allowing it to be selected based on very specific skin concerns.
The Perfect Derma Peel is known for its versatile formulation, combining TCA with antioxidants like glutathione to support brighter, smoother skin. It can also be customized with boosters, such as the Clear Booster for acne-prone skin.
Both peels can improve pigmentation, texture, and overall skin tone when done in a series. The “best” choice ultimately depends on your skin type, goals, and treatment history.
If you’re unsure which is right for you, we’re happy to help guide you.
Yes, the Perfect Derma Peel can help improve the appearance of melasma by increasing cellular turnover and gradually brightening uneven pigmentation.
For more stubborn discoloration, the Perfect Derma Peel Plus is often recommended. Melasma typically responds best when done in a series of three treatments, spaced about 4 weeks apart, along with proper sun protection.
Because melasma can be influenced by hormones and sun exposure, maintenance and consistent home care are important to maintain results.
The Perfect Derma Peel system can be customized depending on your skin concerns:
• Original – Ideal for overall skin renewal, brightness, and improved texture. Great for maintenance or first-time peel clients.
• Plus – A stronger option for more noticeable pigmentation, sun damage, and uneven tone.
• Plus Plus Booster – The most intensive option, recommended for deeper discoloration, more advanced aging concerns, or clients who have tolerated peels well and want enhanced correction.
• Clear Booster – An acne-focused add-on designed for breakout-prone or congested skin.
Choosing the right version depends on your skin goals, and we’re happy to help guide you.
Yes, you can wear makeup if needed during the peeling process. However, many clients prefer to limit makeup during the heavier peeling days (typically days 3–5) to allow the skin to shed naturally and comfortably.
If you do wear makeup, apply it gently and avoid rubbing or picking at peeling areas. Once the peeling has finished and your skin feels comfortable, you can return to your normal routine.
For Fitzpatrick Skin Types 5–6 (Very Dark Skin Tones)
If you have very dark skin, you are still a candidate for The Perfect Derma™ Peel. However, if you are prone to post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), proper preparation and aftercare are especially important.
Before Your Peel
Prep the skin for 3–4 weeks with The Perfect A. If pigmentation is present, add The Perfect B Brightening Complex. Discontinue active products 2–3 days before treatment (up to 7 days if sensitive).
During Your First Peel
A lighter application may be used, boosters may be skipped, and areas with heavy frosting may be avoided to reduce irritation.
After Your Peel
Apply post-peel moisturizer 2–3 times daily for 14 days
Begin mineral SPF 30 on Day 2 and reapply throughout the day
Avoid sun exposure and do not pick or peel skin
Resuming Skincare
Wait 10–14 days before restarting retinoids, acids, or stronger treatments.
If Hyperpigmentation Occurs
Use The Perfect C daily starting Day 10–14, The Perfect A twice weekly starting Week 3–4, and The Perfect B Brightening Complex daily starting Week 3–4.
